Brainiac

Brainiac was an artificial intelligence system, an advanced catalog of knowledge that assisted the citizens of Krypton for three generations. His primary function was to observe and record noteworthy events to provide useful direction to Krypton's scientists. His records were vast and his findings remarkably accurate.

Brainiac's track record was so reliable that it went unchallenged until one of Krypton's leading scientists, Jor-El, found evidence that the planet's red sun was agitating radioactive materials within the planet's core, and that the agitation would result in the destruction of Krypton.

Brainiac, whose deductive capabilities should have resulted in similar findings, became defensive. When the scientific council attempted to shut down his system for diagnosis, Brainiac transferred his knowledge into a satellite and launched it away from Krypton.

Over the course of several years, Brainiac travelled to many planets, acquiring knowledge until his twelfth-level intelligence could no longer be contained. Brainiac found a machine race on the planet Colu. He quickly used his intelligence to become the planet's ruler, using the inhabitants of the planet to generate microscopic processors, so he could create a more compact physical form.

After storing the entire history and the experiences of Colu, Brainiac destroyed the planet and set out, once again, to other worlds to acquire knowledge until, one day, Brainiac reached Earth.
